Purpose:

The purpose of the organization is to promote, support, inform and connect those individuals whose goal is to create a work of art by experimentation, improvisation and exploration. For such purposes, the organization may conduct a yearly workshop or seminar; sponsor an annual juried exhibition; provide members with information about new materials and techniques; and assist in bringing recognition to the concept of experimentation.

Our objective is to encourage artists to increase his or her creativity by experimentation with new art materials, new painting methods, and new ideas. We encourage members to create paintings, which are uniquely their own intellectual conception, and to refrain from copying works from sources other than their own inner vision.

Although most members work in aquamedia, there are no limitations on materials used as long as those materials have artistic merit. During workshops and paint outs, we prefer watermedia as some members are allergic to oil solvents.

Membership is open to artists and other interested individuals who have a desire to exchange ideas and techniques. There will be only one membership category, and members may use "EAA" after their signatures. Annual dues are $25.00. The dues year will run from January through December.

Our History

This art organization was founded in 1995. The members combine the best of traditional watercolors and other aqua media with numerous textural techniques. Included in their works of art are purchased, found and hand colored papers and other objects which are artistically merged into a harmonious whole.

EAA is a "hands-on" working group that focuses on sharing and encouraging innovative methods of painting with watermedia. There are no officers and no scheduled meetings, although one-day workshops are planned from time to time. One juried exhibition is planned each year, and the organization exhibits artwork at various galleries during the year.

Membership is open to artists 18 years or older. There is only one membership category, and members are encouraged to use EAA after their signature. Membership is currently 43, and the annual dues are $25.00. The membership year runs from January 1st through December 31st. Members receive EAA mailings and newsletters and have access to our art instruction videotape library and art instruction book library.
