The Experimental Artists of Alabama "House on Clay"

The work of EAA member: Mrs. Becky Kennedy of Albertville's "House on Clay"

Mrs. Becky Kennedy

In response to a perceived lack of opportunities to participate in creative and artistic pursuits in her community, Mrs. Kennedy has created a workshop dedicated to providing the children of her town, Albertsville, the space and materials to experiment, create and develop their own visions of what is beautiful and true.

"This is a place where kids can come and experiment with all kinds of art, they can do anything anything they want to do. We work in clay or paint. We do print making and basket weaving and paper making. Kids just come in with an idea of what they want to do and we do it."

"The idea is to provide a place where the artistic bud in a child can blossom"

One girl works as my assistant in exchange for lessons, she'd been having problems in school and didn't have much direction in life until she discovered art. She's very creative and does beautiful work. Another girl who helps me has been offered an art scholarship." - Mrs. Becky Kennedy
